Accomplished gay researcher and performer E. Patrick Johnson embarks on an emotional multistate journey to reconnect with numerous men he interviewed for his 2008 novel ‘Sweet Tea,’ an oral history of Black gay men in the South. Along the way, he reexamines narratives and makes an effort to come to terms with his own past while demonstrating how research, artistry and real life converge.
